About Me
My name is Jimmy Ellegate and I am currently a sophomore at the University at Buffalo in the Pharmacy Program. I grew up in a very rural suburb of Buffalo that has lead to an appreciation for the natural environment. Most of my childhood was spent outside rather than inside playing video games, and I was kept very removed from the world of technology until high school. In addition, I was exposed to 70s music for most of my upbringing, which has lead to my removal from pop music. These aspects have caused people to refer to me as an old man trapped in a teenagers body. I'll let you be the judge of that.
About the Blog
Whether you like it or not, social media has taken over today's society. Need proof? Go to a bus stop, college campus, or any other place where people congregate and you’re bound to find a significant percentage of people with their heads in their phones. That’s just the way it is.

This weekly blog will be in response to prompts from UB's SW150 class. The overarching theme of the blogs will be social media and societal change. I will be investigating topics such as how society has changed because of social media and how we are able to use social media to make change. Some topics may be controversial, but I will do my best as an investigator to provide unbiased and factual information so that you, the reader, can get a better understanding of the topics discussed.
